One Installer, One-Stop Shop

Being a small family run business JOATBG has one full time installer, Kevin Coyle, who also manages the graphics department. The design phase typically takes 1-2 weeks promising customers unlimited revisions. Generally, both the printing and the installation phases each take about 1 week. Often working as a single installer, Kevin requires reliable films that are easy to handle and reposition. Food trucks have a lot of grommets and rivets, so Kevin's main concern is how well a film will perform, conform, and adhere when working on these tricky areas. After hearing about SLX® Cast Wrap and matching Series 3270 Overlaminate from Southeastern Sign Supply he purchased a kit.

Quick Installation with Impressive Results

JOATBG were commissioned to design a 25 foot state of the art kitchen on wheels. The concept Feed U Feed 2 piggybacks on the latest food truck craze taking over the nation while also doing some good in the local neighborhood. Every meal purchased at the truck provides two meals for those in need. The truck, meticulously designed inside and out to handle any type of crowd, needed an eye catching wrap that would not only bring in hungry hordes and community awareness, but would also be durable without breaking the bank. A project like this would typically require a few installers working simultaneously to meet a desired time frame. Having previously used DPF 6000XRP for its strong initial tack, Kevin was initially concerned about the low initial contact when working with SLX Cast Wrap. After trying out the film, he was impressed with the vibrancy of his graphics, how easy it was to reposition, and how well the adhesive built up: “the repositionability and soft initial tack is really helpful for a single installer. I knew the film was going to work well after I tested it. It also prints very nice. The vibrancy of the print color is pretty incredible!”

Solution

On the whole, Kevin estimated that SLX Cast Wrap helped save up to 2 hours from the installation process, and notably in the time it took lining up the 12 panels for the truck: “It’s very easy to work with. The liner removes easily and the film does not get stretched when removing it. I really like the initial low contact, durability, and hold of the adhesive. I felt it was better than other competitive products we've used on the market. It is also sold at a great price point as well.” Kevin liked that SLX Cast Wrap performed just as well as DPF 6000XRP on the food truck's grommets and rivets but was easier to use, a signature experience of the film's unique feature, FLITE Technology®. How many people were involved in the installation?

I was the only installer on this project. Normally I work alone so SLX Cast Wrap is perfect because it's really easy to handle and reposition.

We have already used it on two other projects including a mobile library truck and a pharmaceutical delivery van. We definitely plan to keep stocked!
